What's Being Said -

If you’re looking for the perfect recreational property, try this Crowne on for size. It’ll make you feel like royalty. Forest Crowne offers secluded mountain living, inside the City of Kimberley, B.C. - and mere minutes from a range of recreation opportunities.

“It’s a superb location,” says United Communities' marketing director Alix Halpen. “We’re minutes from the Kimberley Alpine Resort ski hill, and we have three major golf courses within five minutes (the Kimberley Golf Club, Trickle Creek Golf Resort, Bootleg Gap Golf Course.)” And the St. Eugene Mission Golf Course is only 15 minutes from your door, which caters to the most avid golf enthusiast.

The development also borders on the Kimberley Nature Park - an 850-hectare haven for cycling, cross-country skiing, hiking and snowshoeing enthusiasts. Forest Crowne occupies a 1,250-acre parcel of land - more than half of which will be left as undeveloped green space.

A number of styles of Cottages are also available, including walk-out and pie yards. Homes are staggered on the lots, to offer seclusion. “They’re all very private. We have situated all the homes to maximize privacy and to ensure we reduce the impact to the existing vegetation.” Prices start at $300,000 for a two bedroom, two-bathroom home.

Depending on the market, Forest Crowne could be a 10- or a 15-year project,” says Alix Halpen. “There is a a proposed pool and owners’ lodge for the Cottages in the plans for the future. It’s a great resort-type feel, like you’re away from everything, but you’re close to all the things you need.”

Halpen says the development’s buyers so far are a mix of full-time residents, recreational users primarily from Alberta, people who plan to retire to Kimberley, and interested United Kingdom residents. “I think the climate is definitely one thing that attracts people. It’s much warmer here (than on the Alberta side of the Rockies). In the spring, you can literally ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon,”

Another benefit to Forest Crowne is value. Recreational property in the Columbia Valley is a sound investment, as prices are going nowhere but up. “We’re in a very early stage of development in Kimberley. It’s still a hidden jewel, without a doubt.” The region offers year-round recreation, and four seasons of scenery that will take your breath away in all four seasons.

“The falls are absolutely beautiful here, with golden leaves lighting up the horizon,” says Thomson. “The charm of the whole area appeals to a lot of people.” And you don’t have to go very far to enjoy it. Kimberley is four hours southwest of Calgary, 20 minutes from Cranbrook and less than an hour from Fairmont Hot Springs.
